VERIZON FORTNITE STADIUM

We used Verizon 5G to build a virtual stadium in Fortnite so fans could have a Super Bowl experience at home.

The Full Story

The Super Bowl was supposed to be a big opportunity for Verizon to show off the power of its 5G service live to a stadium full of fans. But Coronavirus changed everything. Access was limited, the usual crowds remained home under lockdown and was up to us to make sure 5G still made a splash.

Since fans couldn’t come to the stadium, we brought the stadium to them, in one of the most popular games out there: Fortnite. We partnered with a talented team of creators to construct a virtual Super Bowl arena inspired by the real thing. It was filled with NFL-themed mini games, 5G prizes and plenty of surprises.

We hosted a week’s worth of competitions, with key events hosted by the one and only Deus and Mero and featuring a slate of top NFL players and pro gamers. Between Twitch stream viewers and in-game visitors, our activation drew in a super-sized audience. And unlike the real thing, in our stadium everyone had a chance to play.

The activation won a gold Andy and is currently nominated for fourteen one show pencils.
