We proved Verizon's commitment to those who serve by exploring how veterans find community through video games while raising money for those who serve.
The Full Story
Verizon wanted to go beyond offering discounts and prove to the military communicate that they support those who serve. So we partnered with the popular online game World of Warships and Wounded Warrior Project to launch a charity tournament raising money for veterans in need.
To accompany the tournament, we filmed a content series exploring how veterans are using video games to find community, support and mental health. Hosted by film and television star Jay Ellis, ‘Band of Gamers’ premiered during breaks in matches, on the game’s Discord server, and across social media.
Every phase of the tournament was streamed on Twitch and doubled as a fundraiser. We raised over $30k for Wounded Warrior Project in the moment, and Verizon donated a $100,000 prize pool distributed to military charities.
